Carpooling & hotel room for Realm Championships

What are people's thoughts on carpooling and hotel rooms for Realms?

I, for one, am probably going to be driving down and expect to have at least 1 person with me. I expect to get a hotel room. I don't know if I will have more room in the car or the room yet.

I can get pretty good deals on rooms. I'd prefer to ride down with someone else though.

I'm working on finalizing the non-local people considering going with me, but I think that Charlotte is going to keep my attention for the next week or so. I'll try to not forget about it though....

I have to work this weekend now so I'm out.

As usual I'll be looking for someone to ride with, will split costs of gas/lodging, gavin or matt, let me know if anything can be worked out.

Ballparking for your convenience:
Round trip driving: ~450 miles
Average (?) car: ~20 mpg
Approximate price of gas: $2.50/gallon

450 / 20 * 2.5 = $56.25

Hotel: I'd say $100 to be safe (4 people, assuming taxes, etc) though there are cheaper ones

So using those numbers and assuming you can split things 4 ways, that works out to ~$41. Maybe $50 to be safe.

perhaps ~$41, but wouldnt it be wiser to drive down friday night so everybody gets a full nights sleep? or are yall planning to drive down Saturday morning?

well, if you or anyone else has room for me, count me in, but i am short several commons for solo rouge that i will be needing, and would need to buy/borrow them. i plan at being at first pick this saturday to hopefully playtest/plan for realms

I know for sure that Kevin, Gavin, Luke, Seth, and myself are planning on going. I know for sure that Bryant hasn't decided. I know that Rob was probably going to go along with his son. Everyone else I haven't heard specifically from except for this thread.

Assuming that everyone here is planning on going, here's one possible way to set up people and cars:
Car 1: Kevin (Friday) - Kevin, Gavin, Luke
Car 2: Matt (Saturday) - Matt, Jedion, Alex, Bryant
Car 3: Ly (?) - Ly, James, Logan, Ben
Car 4: Rob (Saturday?) - Rob, Rob's son, RJ, Peter

I don't know if anyone other than Kevin, Gavin, Luke, Seth, Jedion, or myself have made arrangements, though. I'm mostly posting this as a way we could have minimal numbers of cars going southbound.

Edit: Also, this doesn't address who's sleeping where. I haven't worried about that as much yet. Are most people willing to sleep 4 to a room?

I decided to pass on the Realm champs this time, MTG regionals are hosted on the same day and the realms format being 3 rounds constructed / 3 rounds draft means that I’m not all that confident that I’ll make it to day 2. Good luck to everyone going.

Me, Logan and James are going on Friday. We got our hotel room, but it is small enough for 3 people. I still have not decided if I am going to play TCG or Minis. I am waiting to see how many people are doing which game before I decide. Does Luke have an invited? Is Dan going?

Luke is going to play in the open since he doesn't have an invite. Dan said he wasn't going and I haven't heard anything contradicting that yet.
