Tumwater Realm Qualifier
To kick off discussion...
Dan Hanson, Jon Loucks, and Kevin Lambert all made top 8, with Gavin Price and Luke in the finals. Thoughts on this event? The metagame was very interesting.

Aww, I don't get called out? Though to be fair, 3-3 isn't a great record.
Anyway, I'm amused at the amount of druid and was impressed at the tournout overall. The more interesting part will be seeing what happens at the next one - I doubt we'll see as much druid, but I don't think it will be all gone.

Yeah, the metagame is really crazy in tournaments with only 20 people. Because myself (and others) didn't keep our deck choices secret, Gavin and Luke were able to build decks design to beat the midrange decks.

I wouldn't put it quite like that. The Desecrator control deck I played was built specifically to beat Kil'zin rush, because Kil'zin is showing to be one of the very best decks in my test gauntlet. Actually, Desecrator is the only deck that was beating it.
The only influence I gained from knowing what other people were playing was that it eliminated Kil'zin as a deck choice for me because so many other people were playing druid control (no I don't have any Hammer of the Naaru's!).
And Luke, well.... He built his deck 5 minutes before the tournament out of a stack of like 120 cards that I brought him to choose from. I'm still surprised he won any games with that pile

Yeah, and that was half the room when you really made the decision, so I have to say it was hardly tuned against anyone specific when he did it.

I agree wholeheartedly. Especially with all the complaining he did about not getting any sleep...

I guess it felt like it because there were so many Ishanah's. I'm not sure if Ishanah is good against Shaman (seemed too slow in my testing) so I expected there to be a few decks with one Ishanah in them each, but all of my non-mirror match loses came from Ishanah hitting play and me being unable to deal with her. I probably should have just played Shaman (Death Shock kills Ishanah) but Insect Swarm made my Druid deck better against Shaman than my Shaman deck and Natural Order is so good. Oh well.

Re: Tumwater Realm Qualifier
Hey Matt, you played Desecrator, right? I can't quite remember. In the top 8 I won one game with Varimithras (!), and did I win the other one on time? I can't remember. Writing my article, and looking for some help here.

I played desecrator. I don't have notes anymore (and was feeling poor at the time so don't have the best recall). I remember the varim, but I think the other game you won I was just smashed with ras'fari and ambassador (since that was the first time I was going first).
